ALEXANDRA DARIESCU PLAYS CHOPIN

Here she plays the complete Chopin Préludes in a performance so outwadly simple and unfussy, that it take hearing a few of them before realizing that something very special is happening. This is music that I love and have have played all my life, and I thought I knew every nuance, every intimate detail. But when Alexandra Dariescu plays Chopin's Préludes, she brings such magic of her own to these pieces that I am prepared to state unequivocally that this recording belongs with the handful of great complete readings of Chopin's set of miniature masterpieces.
