Denise Lassimonne was a favorite pupil of the great English pedagogue Tobias Matthay who adopted her after the death of her father. She was born in England of French parents, studied at London's Royal Academy of Music and later taught at Matthay's piano school and then at the Royal Academy becoming a Fellow of that August establishment in 1957.
Denise Lassimonne was a great admirer and friend of Dame Myra Hess and I think the influence of that great pianist can be heard in the one recording we have available to be heard, the Mozart Fantasia and Fugue in C major.
