Francois-Rene Duchable studied at the Paris Conservatory and won the first prize for piano at the age of thirteen. At twenty or so he was discovered and encouraged by Artur Rubinstein. The rest is history. He has performed with many of the leading orchestras on the world, among them the London, Berlin, and Rotterdam Philharmonic orchestras, the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and the Montreal Symphony, and under such luminaries as Herbert von Karajan
Francois-Rene Duchable is a pianist with the chops to play as fast as anyone. But he doesn't. His playing is always musical, always just so. The clarity with which he plays the most difficult passages is amazing. His performances of "La Campanella", the Transcendental Etudes, and the Schumann Toccata are perfect examples.
Francois-Rene Duchable's Liszt and Schumann are really wonderful, and his recording of the Chopin Fantasy is uniquely interesting and a splendid performance. A special treat is the complete performances of the Liszt transcriptions of the Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique and Harold in Italy.
