Maria Gambarian studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Heinrich Neuhaus, Lev Oborin and Konstantin Igumnov.
Many of the recordings offered below are very recent and clearly not representative of the interpretive pianist at the top of her form, thought her 2011 Chopin Études show she still has the chops. But her 1972 recording of the Schubert-Liszt "Gretchen am Spinnrade" might be the most beautiful one I know. And her stunning abilities as a pianist can be still heard in her 1997 performance of Beethoven's "Tempest".
