Cor de Groot the soloist is indeed something to behold. His affinity for the music of Rachmaninov and his power and singing tone result in splendid performances of the Russian master's great works for piano and orchestra. These and de Groot's recordings of the Liszt and Beethoven concerti make for stunning performances of standard warhorses for piano and orchestra
De Groot the soloist provides us with a formidable performance of the Ravel G Major concerto, another marvel of his interpretative genius and gorgeous singing tone. If you do not already consider this concerto one of the most important works of the genre, here is your chance to be convinced by a pianist of the highest order. And it is followed by a work that is new to me, Morton Gould's "Interplay" (American Concertette, for piano and orchestra).
Finally, we have de Groot the soloist in a delightful rendition of the Mozart A Major concerto K 414.
